Overview

A sequence is a repeatable outreach plan made up of emails, tasks, and delays. Use one to introduce your product, follow up with a prospect, or coordinate outreach across your team. For example, a sequence can send an introductory email, wait two days, and create a phone call task for a rep. Each person you add to a sequence has an enrollment that tracks their progress. The sequence defines the plan; the enrollment records what has happened for that person and what is due next.

Build and personalize your outreach

Choose step types to match your follow-up: automatic emails, manual emails, phone calls, and action items. Add delays to space out the steps. Automatic emails send prepared content; manual emails give a rep a task to review and send the message. With a template sequence, you write the content and use personalization to adapt it to each person. Variables insert details such as a name or company, snippets reuse copy, and smart snippets generate passages from your instructions. Agentic sequences use prompts to generate email content and task notes for each person. Review the generated drafts in chat before approving their enrollments. Set how the sequence runs

Two settings bring your team’s outreach preferences into the sequence:
  • A send schedule sets the days, hours, time zone, and skip dates for automatic emails.
  • A ruleset controls enrollment eligibility, exclusions, task assignment, and email settings.
Choose these in the sequence’s settings. Your team can reuse schedules and rulesets across sequences, while the steps and delays define each sequence’s individual follow-up plan. Email outreach also needs a sending mailbox. Mailbox setup and sending limits are covered in managed deliverability.

Enroll people and follow up

When the sequence is published, enroll people manually or use a play to enroll them automatically. Each enrollment identifies the sender and tracks the person’s steps, including any work waiting on a rep. Use the sequence’s enrollments page to monitor progress and investigate blocked or paused outreach. Reps complete manual work in their tasks, and replies help them identify conversations that need a response. Review sequence results to compare responses and identify which steps to improve.
